Forthcoming House Events

Name A House Competition

Students and members of our wider community can collect entry forms from the front office and devise their own names for the 4 houses. The best will be selected and a vote will be taken later this Term.

House Painting Competition

Students will be able to enter their own painting on a topic of their choice, but it must be done in shades of their House colour only. The competition begins on June 16. The winning painting from each House will be given a large canvas and be asked to reproduce their winning entry for display in the College Foyer.

House Arts Festival

The College House Arts Festival will run from September 8 to 12. Stay tuned for details.

College Assembly

On Friday May 16 we held a full College Assembly. Our Year 9 College leaders ran the assembly and did a fantastic job. The public speaking skills shown, speech writing ability and poise in front of a microphone speaking to the entire College is a ringing endorsement of our student leadership program.

We were able to announce that our two Year 12 College Captains will be attending a forum for School leaders on May 28 at Parliament House. We also introduced a wonderful opportunity to all students 15 years and over. We have been able to secure an opportunity for some of our students to participate in the International Student Volunteer Program. This involves students travelling to third world envoironments and constructing amenities for the famillies. For those interested, contact Mr Rogers at the college for further details. You can also reach the ISV Team at www.isvonline.com

Scholarships for 2009

2008 FHC Debating Teams Begin Competing

On Thursday March 13, we have 4 teams competing in Round 1 of the Victorian Schools Debating Competition. We have been practising hard, and the students are confident they can continue the excellent results of previous debating teams from FHC. Stay tuned for results.

This program has many important benefits. Recently we witnessed our students who had successfully made their way to finals of Lions Club Youth of The Year Competitions speak in a most eloquent and confident manner. There is no doubt their exposure to this program had enhanced their ability to prepare a speech and make public presentations.

    Sport Results 2008

The recent House Athletics Carnival was an outstanding success. The student participation and the quality of the athletes in events was excellent. Most impressive, however was the manner in which the entire College Community has embraced the House system, successfully introduced by our College Student Leaders in 2008.

    District Diving Results.

Congratulations to the FHC Diving Team. They have achieved some great individual honours, and in the process finished second overall.

    District Swimming Carnival

Continuing our super start to 2008, our swim team has finished runners up. Several outstanding individual achievements were made. Well done to all students who represented the College.

      RACV Energy Breakthrough 2008

Students are allready training and preparing the vehicles for yet another effort in the RACV Energy Breakthrough. It must be said that our technology area within the College is the envy of most. Where else can you see students designing energy efficient vehicles on state of the art computers, and then constructing the vehicle out of materials in the workshops using tools that most Tech Schools of old would only dream of having? This section of our College is unique. It is a great opportunity for students to experience hands on design and construction.

FHC Students Win Information Technology Award

On Sunday 25 November, teams from Cisco academies across Melbourne and Victoria participated in the Cisco CCNA competition for students in the second year of their two year course.

Forest Hill College entered one team in a field of 10 teams. Daniel Weldon and Chris Ritchie, both Yr 11 students took on others from mostly Yr 12 and TAFE courses.

Our students gave it all they had and felt confident of victory, however the judges deemed their efforts worthy of a very close third place trailing the winners Luther College and Ringwood Secondary College.

Each of our students received a Linksys wireless router for their efforts with a value of about $100, and Forest Hill College will receive routers and switches to the value of about $10,000.

Congratulations to both Daniel and Chris on their achievement and Mr Krozian for his preparation of the team.
